Poverty Bay have had a fantastic week, regularly featuring down the business end of open and masters events; but it was the Masters Fours where they finished on the ultimate high.  Not only did they feature, they claimed gold.

Warren Gibb, Bryan Pulley, Nanette Treloar and Lois Lamont have gone deep in the Masters Fours before, too.  This time last year they fought a losing battle against Barry Clement, Roger Bartosh, Sharon Hook and Maureen Bartosh in the final, so it may have felt a little like de ja vu when they met again in the semi final on Saturday, however, Gibb and his team were able to turn the tables around and advance through to the final.

Ready to greet them were 2016 Masters Triples and Fours champions, Brian Hardgrave, Bari Oliver and Maureen Dravitski.  They were joined by David Brunton, Andrew Brunton’s brother, who won the Masters Triples in 2021.  Hardgrave and his team showed impressive form through post section, knocking out big names such as Bruce Dalton, Linda Mills, Wilf Peard and Ross Brayshaw, but their good run came to an end.

Congratulations to Warren, Bryan, Nanette and Lois for achieving their first National Masters title, and to all place getters for their great efforts.
