NOVEL CORONAVIRUS / COVID - 19 UPDATE (24.03.20)

Good afternoon everyone.

Since our update of yesterday, developments have moved rather rapidly.

In brief the Government and the Ministry of Health have raised the alert from level two to level three and by the end of Wednesday it will be at level four.

ALERT LEVEL FOUR ELIMINATE… What does this mean?

People to stay at home      Educational facilities closed      All non-essential businesses closed

Rationing of supplies and requisitioning of facilities        Severe travel restrictions    AND

Major reprioritisation of health services

Health services, emergency services, utilities and goods transport, and other essential services are expected to remain up and running at all stages.

People will still be able to go to the supermarket, fill their car at fuel stations and collect medicine from pharmacies

This means that Indoor Bowls will cancel all of its activities and close down Club/Centre owned facilities and after lockdown, please no club/centre meetings until at least 2nd May.

The Executive take this opportunity to thank you all for your support and cooperation over the past few weeks.  Many of you have kept us informed of your decisions along the way which has been both reassuring and helpful.

We encourage you to keep yourself informed through the media and by accessing the Ministry of Health https://covid19.govt.nz or go to their dedicated Healthline Covid-19 number 0800 358 5453.

Please also refer to our guidelines on our website, https://www.nzindoorbowls.co.nz/

Over this period, we encourage you to look after your fellow bowlers, in particular those that may be living alone. Keep in contact via email, phone, txt, Facebook and if you are able to make food deliveries let it be known.

Please stay safe and look out for each other.
