The upcoming Interprovincial event will make for an enthralling Paterson this year where final results will decide which districts land in which tiers for 2023. With plenty to play for, teams will be fighting right up until the last bowl.
Auckland, Waikato, North Taranaki, Hutt Valley, Ashburton, and Southland have already guaranteed their spot in the postponed 2021 Welch Trophy, scheduled to be played September 16 - 18 in Hamilton. History shows that zones are closely contested, so it would not be surprising to see some of these districts replaced in Tier 1 next year.
