The Interisland Battle Preview
Fast approaching is the 41st Interisland Test Match between North and South, and what a match it will be on the Southland floor, widely considered as the best in the country.
Each team oozes class and experience, and have delivered spectacular performances of late, namely Simon Thomas, Gary Low and Shaun Blackbourn who were Players of the Tournament at the recent Blenheim National Championships.
The Southern women’s four skipped by rising star, Kylie Gould, remains unchanged following their success in this event last year, as do the Northern men’s pair Paul Wright and Richard Caddy. Will slight changes in their opposing teams make all the difference?
Both singles matches have every potential to be cliff-hangers with Mat Black’s women Suzanne Mackie and Teri Blackbourn clashing for the first time in a test match, as will Ashley Diamond and Alex Reed who are both capable of producing magic.
But first, the tour. The North Island team will be arriving in Nelson tomorrow, August 7th, and over the course of six days will make their way down to Invercargill. It is an itinerary to look forward to and with many new tourists on the bus it is sure to be a great week.
Stay tuned for potential Matside streaming throughout the week, and of course, the coverage by Pits Media as the North and South go head-to-head for the Kevin Eddy Memorial Trophy.
May the best team win!
