Seamus Curtin and Finbar McGuigan from Aotea College won the Gold Medals in the pairs in the New Zealand Secondary Schools Indoor Bowls Championships held at the North Wellington Indoor Bowls Hall, Onepoto, Titahi Bay, North Wellington on Monday.

Last year they won the Silver Medals.

In the final they defeated Sam Anderson and Racharn Eagle from Horowhenua College 11-3 who received the Silver Medals.

In the semifinals Anderson defeated Todd Soothill and Nicole Bennett from Hawera High School 8-6 while Curtin defeated Megan Jackson and Rebecca Schrader, St Mary's Diocesan School 11-10,

In the play off to decide the bronze medal winner Soothill and Bennett defeated Jackson and Schrader 15-4.

James Powell and Karan Sharma, Aotea College defeated Liam McLean and Tyler Gullery, Hawera High School 8-6 to win the plate for non-qualifiers in the main event.

37 pairs from secondary schools throughout the country entered the championship.
