NZ MIXED PAIRS

Ashley Diamond and Sheree Holmes prove time and time again that they are two of the best in the business.

As expected in such a high quality field, the games were hard fought and often came down to the wire.

The three teams that appeared to have the winning edge were Paul Wright and Carol Wright (Auckland), Daniel French and Keri Te Tamaki (Otago), and Ashley Diamond and Sheree Holmes (Upper Hutt).

Going into the final round, French and Te Tamaki had their nose in front with 4.5 wins, while the Upper Hutt and Auckland pairings were close behind on 4.  If French beat Wright, the title belonged to Otago, but if they lost, it would either go Auckland or Upper Hutt’s way.

In the finish, Wright and Diamond were tied with 5 wins each - a terrific result against classy opponents. A count back of ends determined the winners, and with a 5.5 end buffer, Ashley Diamond and Sheree Holmes were crowned the champions.

This will be the second time they etch their names on the trophy having won the inaugural event in 2016. Congratulations to two worthy winners!
