A last bowl upshot by skip Brendon Walton with lead Rex Mcnae saw him score three shots to defeat Teri Blackbourn and Matthew Farquhar from St Andrews Club, Waikato in the final of the North Island Pairs at the Rotorua Sportsdrome tonight.
A really tight final saw the score 4-4 after 8 ends. Teri Blackbourn scored two shots on the penultimate end to lead 6-4 and looked to have the game won with Walton having just one bowl to play. With nothing to lose he ran at the head and when the bowls settled there were three shots for him to win the match.
Third equal were Linda McCurdy and Rochelle Cameron, St Andrews Club, Waikato and David Archer and Candace Andrew, also St Andrews Club, Waikato.
