Brandon Fuge, James Sullivan and Keri Te Tamaki combined in the Island Championship Triples on Monday - one of fifty teams vying for the David Philpott Memorial Trophy.
Their road to the final wasn’t an easy one, having lost their first game of the day to eventual runners-up Allan Gibson, Christine Shand and Carol Dawson. However, the team rallied with the kind of spirit only James can bring to a team, and their afternoon quickly turned around.
Between Keri’s exceptional leading, and James and Brandon capitalising well in the key moments, they were able to edge out Neil Gilbert, Mike Howard, and Darryl Gallagher 9-8 in the semi final, before claiming a 10-8 victory over Gibson’s team in the final, which was decided on an extra end.
With four Island Fours titles already to his name, James becomes the eleventh bowler to earn an Island Gold Star, and the third to have won championships from both the North and South Islands.
James also earned the trophy for Player of the Tournament after winning a gold and bronze medal over the weekend.
Congratulations once again to all place getters.
