Keeping the momentum going, Southland collected a third national title over the Super Weekend, this time in the Masters Fours. It wraps up a sterling season for Graham and Jan Low in particular. Together they won the NZ Mixed Fours in April, and between them, all three South Island titles that were up for grabs in June. Warwick Gray shares the South Island Fours win with them, and now he and Brian Hotton combine with the Low's to claim a New Zealand Masters Fours title.
In an unbelievably cut throat event, just one and a half wins was all that seperated first place from eighth. Half of the field finished on three wins, while the winners squeaked home with four wins and a draw.
Runner up for the second time in a row was the Wanganui team of Les Heywood, Lindsay Bourne, Brian McCarthy and Karen Lawrie, and in third place was the North Wellington defending champions of Frank McKenna, Mark Andersen, Chris Roberton and Karen Ambler.
All in all, another successful Super Weekend!
