The NZ Masters Fours has a different format to the other national events played over the weekend. Rather than a round robin, the eight teams are split into two sections, and after three games, the two best performing teams of each section make up the semi finals.
Nelson and Northland emerged from Pool 1, each with two wins, and identically, Wanganui and North Wellington emerged from Pool 2.
From here, the North Wellington team of Frank McKenna, Mark Andersen, Chris Roberton and Gael McRoberts really hit their straps. They stood out in the semi final with a convincing win over Nelson, before edging out the Wanganui side 11-9 in the final.
North Wellington become the second team to claim the title, and a hearty congratulations to them all.
