Tim Veale had just come off a win in the NZ Henselite Singles, only to head straight into the NZ Mixed Fours after lunch.  This format afforded Tim the golden opportunity to score two national titles in one day, and he grabbed it with both hands.

Veale and his team of Bruce Meyer, Sarah Meyer and Ann-Marie Redmond were toppled 5-6 by a determined North Wellington side in the first game, but were able to win five on the trot to be a fighting chance in the final round.  A last bowl screamer is what got them over the line with a 6-5 win, and at the same time, over the line to win the trophy.

Grant Rayner, Dale Rayner, Jess Moffat and Jeff Stuart watched on, deflated, having already experienced the heartbreak of being so close yet so far in this same event at the Super Weekend in April.  They'd made the best start by winning their first three games, but dipped out in the fourth and last round to claim second.  A fantastic effort nonetheless.

Otago's Daniel French, Nicholas Sinclair, Keri Te Tamaki and Lyn Rance also showed a great amount of fight.  Losing two of their first three games would not have been their ideal start, but winning their subsequent games saw them arrive in third place, just two ends behind second.

Another great event that went down to the wire, congratulations to all placegetters.
