North Wellington have had a busy week hosting the poker night, quiz night, and now the District Challenge!
The vibrant atmosphere was set early on, and as we have seen in the past, this event brings out the more aggressive style of play. The crowd are encouraged to make noise; bowlers are dared to be brave; and boy does it make for some great viewing.
Penalty points were being awarded left, right and centre for bad jack throws, straightening the jack, walking onto the head, playing the wrong colour, kills, and more. The good news is, kills were also respotted, and power play ends were often key to comebacks you never thought possible.
The Poverty Bay team grace our headlines once again, where stalwart David Lynn, coach Malcolm Trowell, and the two young guns Matthew Foster and Nathan Trowell came up trumps. Their run included wins over King Country, North Taranaki, Manawatu, and Taranaki in the final. Poverty Bay become the fourth district to etch their name onto the Warnes Trophy.
Congratulations!
