NZ 1-5 YEAR SINGLES

Canterbury’s Shane Bell made every post a winner in the inaugural NZ 1-5 Year Singles on Saturday.  Of the six games, Bell stormed home with five wins and a draw to take a convincing first place.

Buzz Abraham, Hawkes Bay, drew with Bell in the first round before adding another three wins to his tally.  It was Roger Eggeling (Nelson) and John Perry (Southland) who stopped him in his tracks in the next two games, however, Buzz finished an honourable second.

Overall, the field was incredibly cut throat and all players picked up at least one win.  Dylan Foster (Poverty Bay) was one of three players with three wins, and the countback of ends saw him claim third place.

The 1-5 National events are thoroughly enjoyed and it is fantastic to see these newer bowlers achieving so early in their careers.  Well done to all contestants, though a special congratulations to Shane Bell who will be the first name engraved on the trophy.
