Greetings to our family of Indoor Bowlers, we sincerely hope that you will take time to read the information below. As you will be aware the Coronavirus is impacting significantly on the hosting of sport in New Zealand and world-wide. NZIB encourages our Districts, Centres and Clubs to continue to take a responsible approach to hosting events, club gatherings, coaching sessions etc. The following are some guidelines we would encourage you to observe.
Recommended advice from Sport NZ is as follows:
It is recommended that all individuals and organisations in the play, active recreation and sport sector continue to follow the advice of the Ministry of Health who are able to share the latest information on a range of topics from travel to holding public events and mass gatherings. Advice to date indicates individuals should be vigilant with personal hygiene and avoid people with cold or flu symptoms.

Sport, recreation and play often involves being together in groups or at events. At this stage, the Ministry of Health is not recommending any changed approach to holding events. However if you are an event organiser, you should focus on:

✓ Instead of shaking hands after a match, acknowledge sportsmanship in another way
✓ Keep hand sanitiser available in the club rooms and encourage players to use frequently especially as bowls are shared
✓ Check the cleanliness of toilets, changing rooms, showers, before during and after use
✓ If you provide hand towels you may like to consider disposable towels
✓ Check the cleanliness of your ‘kitchen’, before, during and after use
✓ Coaches and mentors; keep physical distance when teaching others
✓ Follow this Ministry of Health advice if you have any gatherings such as tournaments or social nights or fundraisers coming up.
