Teri Anderson from the Te Kura Correspondence School won the singles in the fourth New Zealand Indoor Bowls Secondary Schools Competition held at the North Wellington Indoor Bowls Hall, Onepoto, Titahi Bay, North Wellington on Sunday.
In the final she defeated Joseph Duncan from Twizel Area School 10-2, 6-0 in the final.
This completed an exciting weekend for Anderson as she was runner-up in the New Zealand Junior Singles yesterday.
In the semifinals Anderson defeated Sheldon Bagrie-Howley, Gore High School 6-3, 7-0 and Duncan defeated Collin Williams, Rangitoto College 6-4, 8-2.
The defending champion Kyle Peters no longer qualifies for this event
58 players from secondary schools throughout the country entered the singles competition and 31 pairs will compete in the pairs championship tomorrow.
The Secondary Schools Singles conditions of play differ from the New Zealand Junior singles in that singles games consist of two sets of six ends. If the sets are tied i.e. one set each or two drawn sets then a one end tie break is played to decide the winner. Two points are awarded for a win and one fro a draw with six points required to qualify for sudden death post section play.
23 players qualified for post section play in the singles.

Sheldon Bagrie-Howley and Cameron Tremaine (Gore High School) retained their pairs title in the New Zealand Secondary Schools Pairs Championship played at The North Wellington Indoor Bowls Hall, Onepoto Domain, Titahi Bay, Wellington on Monday.
In the final they defeated Anjela Frost and Shayna Heal (Stratford High School) 4-1, 6-0
Bagrie-Howley was named the player of the tournament having finished third equal in the Secondary School Singles yesterday.
